12 is much better. I think having two regions empty in the center creates a huge imbalance. I think 6 mentors and 6 learners is probably ideal, but 4/8 works as well. Depends on who all wants to play.

Can I be a padawan?   I would think the original team format would be best? 1 mentor 2 newbies, 4 teams (4/8).. that format is already loaded. The 6/6 would have to be loaded up differently yes?

6/6 would have to be created by RyVor. I think it would be a better for overall play. 4/8 plays closer to warlords which is more fast pace and deadly compared to 6/6

I remember in the past we had the format of master/apprentice where the apprentice did the communications for the team. The master was there to advise.

I like the suggestion of master/apprentice communicate via email. Perhaps apprentice of each team can communicate every 3 turns on forum.
