New Game
#1
I see 3 games forming in the Queue but they are all only 10 player and one is Ice Age yes?

Anyone up for a "pure" version of Alamaze which is 12 player, 1 per region with 2 dispersed and full communication either via forum or "old fashioned" via email etc.?

Rick has always said that Alamaze is best for diplomacy, and while it may take more time and thought it's been a while.

I see I missed the forum only game that just started and that's too bad.

Thanks

Working on a policy to go mainly to traditional formats to cut way back on queue time and back to what Alamaze needs to be.  Any "Specialty" games need to fill by Feb 1, 2018 or the Specialty game queue will close with players asked to join the Traditional format game forming.  Should be posted sometime Sunday.

3018? So we have 1000 years? That kind of favors elves over us short lived humans.lol

After spending a few hours beginning to write an official policy, I've decided to postpone that for a few reasons as I'm not sure what the right conclusion should be.

Basically, I have a few objectives:
1.  Reduce time waiting in queue by limiting how many games can be queuing.
2.  Focus on Traditional Alamaze game formats like Steel, Alliance and Primeval as well as Duels.
3.  I had three categories, the Traditional format games that are really what Alamaze is, Specialty Games like Ice Age or random hidden cities or Pagan, and Experienced games where there are drafts and usually multiple kingdoms controlled by a player.

I'm not sure if the recent starts of Specialty games is because players really like those variants, or those were the only offered (thread started).

I liked the discussions on the forum from a year or more ago on Traditional games as a great aid to teach the game.  I'm not sure what players learn with the twists in Specialty games or how players can compare experiences.

So for now, nothing official but I would like to see only a couple threads queuing games, and more Traditional games queuing.

Rick, just to give you my perspective, I'm pretty much game for most formats (other than Draft B, which I truly loathe) but given that, I really can only afford to play one 'traditional' game with diplomacy at a time. While diplomacy is certainly fun, it is a lot more work and to keep up with deals and all that in more than one game involves and investment of time that I'm not in a position to make.
Whereas the anonymous/silent games - those I can input the orders for at any time - I don't need to check with allies, make new deals, share info, etc. I can play lots of those games and enjoy them. I do think that the slow filling is mostly a result of our small player base - I hope the proposed advertising blitz mentioned by Uncle Mike brings in some new blood. Another advantage of formats like Confluence and Warlords is that they only require 6 or 4 players - lots easier to fill than 12. I personally really do love confluence. Ice Age is an interesting new challenge, but I doubt it will be my favorite going forward or anything. But I also don't want to be limited to only the traditional Steel and Team games.

I second this.  I agree with every word written.

Chirp Chirp. Anyone want to play a game?

Nothing wild. 12 player, 2.5 day interval, full comms (can make forum only if needed).

I created one to join. I'm in.

After being away for a long time I'll jump back in!  It sounds like the 12 man is similar to what I last remember playing.

Hijacking the thread since the subject was spot on Smile : anonymous games are my thing and I was curious about draft F (sorry for the other game in the queue but a random kingdom is no no for me)so I created a game with these parameters in the queue. As the creator, must I join it myself?
