Welcome to the DUEL! Challenge Arena
#1
                                    ALAMAZE

                                Introducing the Choosing: DUEL!

MANO E MANO in ALAMAZE on CENTAURIA

Our newest game DUEL! is from the Alamaze franchise but on the new Centauria map with two regions and is for two players.   Consider the possibilities:  High Elf vs. Dark Elf, or Black Dragon vs. Red Dragon, or Tyrant vs. Sacred Order, or a Sorcerer vs. Warlock contest.  A total of 576 possible matchups choosing from all of our 24 available 3rd Cycle kingdoms.

For those unaware, here is a list of the 24 available kingdoms in Alamaze: The Choosing
Amazons                    Ancient Ones               Atlantians                   Black Dragons
Cimmerians                Dark Elves                   Demon Princes            Dwarves
High Elves                  Gnomes                      Halflings                     Illusionist
Lizardmen                  Nomads                      Pirates                        Rangers
Red Dragons              Druid                          Necromancer               Sorcerer
Sacred Order             Tyrant                         Underworld                 Warlock

                                        …Imagine the Possibilities!

DUEL! Is a max 18 turn game, where the Conqueror victory condition is control of both regions.  If neither kingdom gains control of both Westania and Ezerbrite after 18 turns, victory is by The Lion’s share – total status points.  DUEL! is fast-paced, with turns processed on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at noon Eastern USA.

All aspects of Alamaze are in play, except sea power and its rules not present in Centauria games, so sea areas are out of play, and there is no Early Strategic Objective in this quick format.

DUEL! will have its own Valhalla section!

How to get in a DUEL!
Players are encouraged to post their availability to be Challenged on this thread for DUEL!  Players on a first come, first served wanting to Challenge should reply to the post.  Once the pairing is complete, the Challenge is formed and the player who was available for challenge is now engaged: not available for challenges until he posts again.  The Challenged player gets to select first, in reply to the challenge on the forum.  The Challenger picks second.  The Challenger then selects which region he will defend.

The alternate, but equally acceptable way is the two players correspond off-line, and when their match is set, post the details on the same DUEL Challenges thread.  That way the folks at EAE can setup the game, and meanwhile, the community can see what matches have formed.
Then, one of the players send the info for both players in the game (personas, kingdoms, who is in which region) to signup@alamaze.co

Can this be True?

                                                                         Let the Games Begin!

It looks fantastic, Rick! I am going on a week long vacation and deep sea fishing trip week after next or I'd be one of the first to sign up. I really like your sponsorship program; great idea and cost all around.

Two questions for clarity. Is it still M-W-F? Also, UM mentioned a victory condition that counts the most artifacts. Is that a thing yet?

I was pleasantly surprised to see the Pirates included. I guess in Centauria they are more like Bandits.
 Lord Diamond

Please do not take any of my comments as a personal insult or as a criticism of the game 'Alamaze', which I very much enjoy. Rather, I hope that my personal insight and unique perspective may, in some way, help make 'Alamaze' more fun, a more successful financial venture, or simply more sustainable as a long-term project. Anyone who reads this post should feel completely free to ignore, disregard, scorn, implement, improve, dispute, or otherwise comment upon its content.

Thanks LD.  And credit to Uncle Mike for surprising me with making the format available ahead of schedule.  Yes, M/W/F (its there near the top).

All 24 kingdoms included, I'm hoping players will use the kingdoms in this format to balance matches between players of different experience.

I hope the Sponsorship works.  One apprentice, one Master, nothing else to be concerned with.  We've seen a few fast risers lately, who doubtless benefited from tutoring.

I'm holding the Adventurer victory off for a period, probably until the first DUEL! matches complete.  Then the idea is there would be Adventurer (most artifacts at end of turn 18) as the sole victory condition for those games (not an alternate condition).  This should make for a completely different kind of DUEL! game with different priorities for kingdoms, without much concern for conquering regions.  But first, let's get the Conqueror format going.

Come, step forward, Lords of Alamaze!  And bring your squires.
