#300 - Experimental
Here are my thoughts on the new results.
First of all I like them a great deal so good job.
A few things I don't like:
The colour - I would rather something different - I just find that pink/red shade displeasing somehow.

The text - I liked how old results would use different fonts - this seems to loose some flavor by only using Times New Roman (or whatever is is). Now I'm guessing this may be because not everyone is going to have weird fonts on their machine so only popular ones are safe to use? But I do miss the more interesting fonts.

The margins seem a bit narrow, but I'm wondering if that was for people who view their results on a tablet? I guess many people do, so fair enough.

Anyway, I said good job and I meant it. I deliberately didn't sent in my turn before this morning to see if I would get the 'warning' and I did.

Turn 14 was emailed with the new HTML kingdom reports. Let me know of any issues since a lot of changes were made to different areas of the code since last turn. If anyone did not receive their ESO awards on turn 14 (due to the new change) then let me know as well.

Some of the kingdom logo pictures (on title page) for the newer kingdoms (Druid, 1st cycle) are samples until I receive the official versions so those pictures are only place holders for now. Also, I may make the display look more like you're reading a scroll when I add rolled-up paper images on the sides of the screen. More improvements later on...

Love the output file came out perfect on my ipad at home.   Will try at work tomorrow.

May need to look into my hard US I did this turn.  I was kind of expecting a bit more than 1K gold. Smile
The Paladins Huge Dwarf is no more.

You just rolled low on the encounter gold amount but your lich ripped that dwarf apart...

You mean the lich licked him?

The background should be brown like old parchment paper -- not pink Smile

The lettering is Verdana. The fonts and other considerations are presented according to the Chicago Style of Writing (the most common style of writing for authors) so you should see a reduction in mismatching fonts moving forward. Which will make the look not as sloppy as before but the report won't be as anal with the rules as writing a technical document.

Perhaps the reddish text makes it look pink? I tried looking at a piece with no text, but I'm still seeing something more pink than brown, but that may be because once something is seen, it's hard to unsee.
Again, not be be an art critic, but the document just doesn't look medieval at all in the current state. Other than the bits of artwork, anyway. Perhaps I'm just too used to the old format, but I think the use of italics in that version make a difference.
Most people probably don't care - they are certainly easy to read. And I honestly don't want to sound like I'm bitching or anything. Just trying to give feedback without being obnoxious about it.

I like this new version of the turn sheets a lot more then any other versions I have seen so far.  I like the tan background better then the plain white with the only down side now is a longer download time from the web (45 seconds vs. 1 second).  Download time is not an issue to me, just stating differences I saw.

The download took that long only because other games were being processed at the time. When the new program handles all Alamaze games, you'll see a much improvement in response time with the server. Not just with the HTML kingdom reports but also with the order checker load/save functions.

For turn 14, it took just 19 seconds to run the turn (that includes emailing all of the kingdom reports to the players). That's a big difference compared to the older software. When I convert the XML configuration files to a SQL database, it'll cut the time down even greater so processing turns in the future won't bog down the server and you'll get your pictures that much faster.

As for the kingdom report not looking that Medieval right now, this is only the first version. More improvements and additional artwork is forthcoming...

Demon Princes here. Glad to see my lumbering skeletons finally caught up to that nimble Hobbit running around my region. Kept on guessing wrong where he would show up but now the Hobbit is trapped. He's strung up like Frodo in Shelob's web and whimpering too. Now onto that goody-two-shoes Paladin...

Adam Ant is the Paladin king?
