#503 - The Choosing 2nd Beta
(01-08-2016, 08:54 PM)HeadHoncho Wrote: What about Advanced Recon? And 976, while we're at it?

By the way, I reconned a square in 502 with a Crystal of Seeing, and although I didn't see the hidden pop center, I did see all of the Kingdom's emissaries, including the King.

Just FYI, in case that's not working as intended.

I will say that it will be really hard to find a Hidden capital, if 877 (and potentially 979) won't do the trick.

The agent search orders (976-979) won't pick up a hidden pc no matter the agent's actual level. I specifically asked about this back in July while writing the code and was informed to keep them hidden (which is good).

Advanced Recon (978) won't pick up a masked, ambush, or invisible group since it's always a L1 recon however order 977 by a L11+ agent will detect an invisible group (L4+ for masked, L7+ for ambush).

What turn did you use the crystal on a hidden pc? I need to examine the results...

Game 502 CI Turn 13.

Halfling ability to recon three levels higher may help with this, yes?

The agent search orders (976-979) are a different animal than a basic recon (970) where the Halfling bonus applies.

Fixed the issue of an agent below 4th level (or crystal artifact) that displayed emissaries in a hidden pc.

Portal movement is now available via the Other menu page but press your browser refresh button when you get there to pick up the current CSS file (for formatting the 726's dropdown lists).

Truly fun and exciting turn. Lots of 3rd cycle forums now, so not sure where to put comments.

Ok, battles. Had an excellent battle with the GN this turn and it went about as expected. We each had 10 brigades, though I think my troops were stronger. He had a slight edge on leaders and wizards and morale.
My troops had 5 Tyrant, 3 Troll, 1 Orc, 1 Warg while he had 4 Gnome, 5 Westmen (3 were green), 1 Rock Golem. I had a Major General and 2 Captain Majors, and he had a Commander and a Major General and a Captain Major. My wizards were 4 and 1, while his were 4, 3, 1. My troops are super susceptible to magic, so his magic advantage was magnified. It appears that we both attacked on a 2 (I was worried about Wall of Flame). By the way, this was mid-siege of his capital (I had sieged one turn and was about to siege for turn 2 - will take town with 2 siege turns for Tyrant), so Gnome was eager to break the siege if he could and I was eager to maintain it. I was not strong enough to hit it outright (well, maybe, but it would be close and I would lose a lot). Lots of cool damage in our battle, and then the Gnome withdrew with 39% losses, while TY lost 18%. All leaders survived but the Gnome P3 was killed.

The good news is that I now have veterans and other things needed to do some of the special TY battle abilities, so I will try those next.

Then, the best part. The siege worked after two turns like it was supposed to with increased odds of capturing emissaries therein, and I captured all but 2 of the emissaries/agents at the capital (7 emissaries/agents captured), including the King and the Fool. I now have two Fools bent on entertaining at my court. Guess I did not realize that would happen.

Sorry, GN, but because of the confusion up front (suspicious in my starting region), I had to pick a region I thought I could take, and I was tolerant in Runnimede with some assets located there Smile.

Rick asked for ESO feedback. As usual, I chose a major, but I did pick different ones than usual. Because I was a dispersed kingdom and not sure where I would land, I chose: Recover 3 artifacts (since I heard there would be lots of sightings), substantial in a region, 3 dukes, 2 level 7 agents. I was fortunate to recover my 3rd artifact on turn 9, so I claimed on turn 10. I chose 2 kingdom brigades, 2 barons, 1 influence. Then, because of the TY special feature of hitting the major ESO, I was also awarded 2 green trolls and 2 points of influence. Pretty sweet.

How long are we running 502 and 503?

ESO was not much an issue this game I had control a region, recover 2 artifacts and 3 p5 wizards. The artifacts were a little harder than usual since I had found a key and a quest the quest key I got beat out by the DA when we both were on the US at the same time. I am sure he was happy to learn the quest for his new key is in the sea of terror. Funny that my key has the quest US in his region as well. I had my ESO need around turn 9 and claimed turn 10 2 adepts, a p1 and a baron. I remember Ry Vor mentioning a prince would maybe be available, but I did not see that choice. Just a duke for two points.
With the reduced starting Emmy count I still think reducing the 1 point Emmy to a gov and the two point to a count would be good. Maybe add a prince for 3 points. Also maybe add making one kingdom brigade a veteran for 1 point. If they have not gotten one yet they could at least get one through ESO.

An interesting note, if you have a Kingdom special ability of having recons on your own pop centers, your hidden capital will NOT be included on that list.

Delayed my major ESO by one turn to do some group logistics moves.

I would like to keep them going for a while yet in order to test everything. I need someone to accomplish their SVC to test that it doesn't end the game but still awards your points. Also need to test the new spells. Has anyone cast Raise Zombies yet after a battle then watch them eat opposing dead troops? Or any of the new ones specified here:  http://kingdomsofarcania.net/forum/showt...0#pid35630

Ran into a snag on claiming my Lesser ESO:
Our Early Strategic Objectives for this Contest:

Control a region worth 2 points.
Have 3+ Dukes (not King/Queen/Regent/Consul/Demon Prince) worth 1 point.
Have at least 7+ Fleets in two or more Seas worth 1 point.

We are pursuing a MINOR ESO!
*****
ESO Goals We are honored to inform the court that the requirements for objective T1

have been accomplished!

ESO Goals Our scribes are ashamed to advise the court that the requirements for
objective P5 were failed to be reached at this time.

ESO Goals Your humble servants are saddened to advise your majesty that the
requirements for objective D4 were not met as of yet.

Strategic Goals Your humble servants are embarrassed to report to your majesty that not
enough of our Lesser Strategic Goals were achieved so no award will be
granted (achieved only 2 out of 3 points).
*****
Sea Fleets Quality Description Elite Ship Last Mission

Drowning 12 14.8 Triremes Argo Sailing with 2AT
Foreboding 6 14.5 Triremes Illiad At port
Mystery 3 13.0 Sleek Galleys At port
Terror 0 13.0 Sleek Galleys At port

Looks like the program didn't recognize that I do in fact have more than 7 fleets in 2 seas.
