Master & Apprentice

Congratulations to Helix and Wynand for their victory in the initial Master & Apprentice Campaign, won by Helix as the Giant controlling 3 regions for two consecutive turns.

Let's hear the stories of the campaign, but also if this is a good means for newer or returning players to learn the game.

Congrats to the Giant! I think as the BL my team had a good shot at the win too, but you guys beat us to the chase.
I think this is a neat style of game, I hope the 5 apprentices come out with a better grasp of the game.

Yes, Congrats to Helix and Wyand. This was a fun contest. Lord Thanatos (RD) was an excellent mentor. Also the battle between us (GN/RD) and the EL/TR was entertaining, such as the TR army completely destroying Meridon, I have to say I didn't expect that, especially that early in the contest.

I think this would be an excellent way for new or returning players to get started.

My worst turn came when my King, Wynanda Ryder, was assassinated.

Great job to the GI/WA team. Took down your opponent single handedly for the WIN.

(TR) I enjoyed the beginning of the game even though sucked into a war early vs GN team. GN did a great job getting his wizards dome ready to handle me in his region. I did take his high defense high gold city with a siege trying to plunder it each turn but constantly domed. Got lucky the turn after I took the city he no longer had a patrol there and I got my capital in the city the rest of the game. Lost my capital maybe 7 or 8 times and my slimy king always got away. My biggest mistake on turn 10 I plundered Meredith but should have taken control and gotten control of the region just long enough to get my ESO. That was when I started my rampage to destroy anything I can and got shut down by GN wizards. After taking Cradia over I moved into Arcania to punish the RA. I asked the DA currently at war with RA if he could if he was willing to hire the TR troops on a will work for food program. Both the EL and I were starving. My moral was at a low of 85% in my large Army Group. I landed on Arcania's lower city. A ranger city. I plundered it to find out it was the Rangers capital. I gained 2.6 points of influence due to the death of his King. On the last turn I had split into 4 groups of 9 brigades and was heading back to region 7 to over power the GN wizards. The RA did knock one group down to 4 on the way over. Also on the final turn I was able to assassinate the GN king! So really my only highlights to this game were plundering two cities and killing the kings of My aggressors.

My Master did teach me many thing but I learned more I think working with and against him in other games. But it was this game that started that relationship.

I think this is a great format to bring new players into. Maybe have some of the apprentice for this last game train the future new players.

What about Peer Commendations here? Are none worthy?

For the newer players, the categories are Chancellor (mentor), Iron Willed (will persevere despite all odds), and Infamous (made the game more fun or memorable (or both). If you nominate someone, you post and give your reasons in a paragraph or so.

What did Meredith have to say about being plundered by a Troll? Did she press charges? Is that why it was your biggest mistake? At least you confessed. Big Grin

Charges! Going from Gnome to a regenerating Troll. It's not just our arms that come back quickly. After catching her breath all she could say was "WOW."

She even introduced us to our future sugar mama down south Crada.

Mistake was too dang chatty. We should have just stuck with the live stock.
