Kingdom Specific Strategy
#1
Resource:  Compendium of Kingdom Specific Strategy

I think it would be a great resource to have a player who has podiumed (top 3 finish) take on posting a strategy for any (and all) kingdoms so taken to a high finish.  It would be great to have a dozen of these to start with, and in time, all 24.

If someone posts on a kingdom, let's invite discussion and other perspectives.

To get things going, for each different kingdom covered in the next 72 hours that complies with the guidelines will get a $10 credit.

Format:

Kingdom Name (not ab.), bold

Overview:  at least 100 words to 300.  This is to give a player an idea of what the kingdom is about.  Strengths, special abilities and how to utilize these, magical opinion, military opinion, political opinion.  Other impressions you have.   (Just that little section was about 45 words, just sayin' 100 words goes fast)

Early Strategy:  What needs to be accomplished by turn 6, and mainly on why this kingdom might be different from the generic approach.  Have you discovered something beyond, "Explore early, take your region, build your agents and wizards."  This should be also 100-300 words, or more if you are inspired.

Mid Game:  Make this if things went as planned in Early Strategy, and also sort of a fall back plan.  This is through turn 12.  What should have been accomplished by now.  This might be the meatiest piece of your analysis.  Make this at least 200 words to 700.  Put in your own impressions and other points about the kingdom not covered earlier.

Late Game:  Some players get lost here.  Assuming you are succeeding on the board, how do you position yourself for the endgame?  100 - 300 words.

End Game:  Maybe just how you did it.  This is really why you are writing this strategy piece.  At least 100 to 1000 words, please.  Any personal impressions you had while playing this kingdom will be great.  What you might have done differently.  Are you planning to play this kingdom again, why or why not?

OK, that's it.

Just a suggestion:
If someone starts one of these you might want to post on the forum you are doing a specific kingdom.  It could suck to put hours into something and be ready to post it just to see someone else post the same kingdom first.

Its ok - both players would get credit, and it would be interesting to see where there was agreement and where approaches diverge.

Anyway, don't be shy.  This could be a great help to players and also potentially a way to market the game focusing on kingdom strategy.

New threads are a good idea, easier here on the forum to find what a player is looking for.  If you don't know how to start a thread (other writers) you can post here.

Come on folks, as of today we have lots of kingdoms to cover.

You finished in the top 3 with your kingdom.  Share your wisdom and improve play in Alamaze!  $10 credit.

In the next release, are there either kingdoms that you wish would be discontinued, or kingdoms you would never want to be discontinued?  You know I have eliminated maybe 9 kingdoms over the years.

There are a lot of block and tackle things to do on the next release, and I continue to be torn about whether to compound the effort of a new release with introducing three new kingdoms.  Would you rather have the simple things faster, or with new kingdoms later? The way it works, it can't be do the simple things now and the kingdoms later, it probably has to be without new kingdoms sooner and no new kingdoms, or a couple months later with three new kingdoms.

Some of the concepts for new kingdoms are:
  • The Enchantress
  • The Night King
  • The Azyrians (a Persian/India/China) themed kingdom
  • The Republic (strong economy, no HP, limits on ruler influence, sea power and trading nation, builds cheap)
  • The Kindred (werewolves and vampires).  This would be as complicated (for design and coding) as the Demon Princes.

No need to remove kingdoms just add more. Maybe tweak kingdoms like the SA. Add more champions to military based kingdoms like CI and SA.

Make the version the way you want it. By the time updates are needed again talk will be about making a new version again and we do not get an update to things that are needed.

The enchantress, Republic and kindred all sound fun.

Aren't werewolves and vampires supposed to hate each other?

Then again, as long as the vampires don't sparkle, I think were good.

Azyrians sound a bit like Nomads.  Would you make them different?  It sounds good but please help SA or just get rid of them.
