Has anyone tried using a portal with the order checker? It won't allow me to enter the destination area in the system. Am I doing it wrong?

I have used it. You need to enter a square next to the one of the exit square. Basically your paying the portal movement already. If you wanted to land on the square where the exit is, you would need to issue the Order and stop on the opposite side. You will end your turn having gone through the portal
Example Portal at AB and exit at ZZ. Say group is at AD
To move to ZZ you would issue order and end move AB. 726 1EL AC AB
To move to YZ. You would 726 1EL AC AB YZ

You've done this with the new 3rd Cycle order checker? I try moving to AA and the only options it gives me are AB, BA, and BB.

I think you have to end your turn on the Portal square (I don't think you can move, portal, move on the other side on the same turn). Then you can move from the other side next turn. So its a 2 turn process (at least it was for me). So do a normal 720 move on the first turn ending on the Portal square. Then on the next turn (starting on the Portal square), you issue the special portal move Order and move normally but now on the other side of the portal.

Here's the description you receive when investigating a portal (let me know what isn't correct):
Portals are ancient and powerful devices that transport a group to another location in the realm. Enter Order #726 and place your group id in Column "A" with map areas for the remaining Columns (not including the destination portal's area). Passage thru the portal counts as 5.0 movement points (ignore the terrain cost of the destination portal's location). Only Order #726 is permitted thru a portal, no forced marching or use of a speed spell will enhance movement nor are any of the 700-series movement orders allowed (so if a specified area is water before reaching the portal's location [including the group's starting location], use a sea movement order to reach the portal then issue Order #726 the following turn. If the group's starting location is at a portal that is also in water, issue Order #726 to move thru the portal. If the destination portal is in water then all movement will halt at that location and issue a sea movement order the following turn).

Unclemike, the description is perfectly correct. The problem is the order entry.
Portal is in Area AA and destination portal is in Area ZZ. My group is at area AC and I want to end at ZY.
Should be: 726 1EL AB AA Y
The order checker allows me to 726 1EL AB AA ........ Then I can move to AB, BA, and BB. It doesn't let me move through the portal.
If the drop down didn't just include the surrounding areas and let me pick any of them, I wouldn't have a problem. I don't have the option of choosing ZY, YY, or YZ as I should.

Try it now. You may have to press your browser refresh button when you're at the Other menu tab but the dimensional portal map dropdown lists now offer all map areas (not adjacent ones).
