Unwritten rules
#1
So, I've been playing for awhile now, and like most games I have found there are quite a few "unwritten" rules. Long time players know these rules, and I've found out a few as I play, but I would be interested in hearing from the more experienced players on this issue. An example might be "You don't drop a position until after turn 12 at least", or "Don't make personal accusations of misconduct against a player on the forums".

Thanks!

Both of which happen and cause all sorts of issues.

Another might be based on the intentional ganging up on one kingdom. Three way attacks on a single kingdom are no fun for anyone, really, and should be avaoided when ther are other options. You want to defeat your opponents, but you don't want to syeal the joy of the game from them.

Please do not take any of my comments as a personal insult or as a criticism of the game 'Alamaze', which I very much enjoy. Rather, I hope that my personal insight and unique perspective may, in some way, help make 'Alamaze' more fun, a more successful financial venture, or simply more sustainable as a long-term project. - Many of the experienced players will try to avoid attacking newer players, players in their first couple of games, until after turn 10 or 15
- Some players, but by no means all and maybe not even the majority, believe that the High Counsel is not a battle field. The belief is that since a kingdom paid to be on the counsel and again to raise an issue the issue should not be voted down unless it injures another counsel member.
- I agree with LDs note about 3 on 1 attacks although this again is not necessarily the belief of all. I personally have been attacked early in a game by some of our more aggressive players in 3 to 1, 4 to 1 and even 5 to 1 attacks. That is why I prefer anonymous games.

In my opinion the HC is a battle field, if used right it can be a force. I myself have no issues knocking off enemies from HC seat. Just like releasing a skeleton for me!

I consider the HC to be fair game as well. It is another aspect of diplomacy, however, and you hve to carefully consider your actions. If you don't want a player to vote against you next turn, you should not vote against them this turn. It tends to be more congenial early in the game, but can get nasty once the battle lines are drawn.
