Flanking Attack                                Determined Attack

The 1st Tyrant morale was boosted due to the plentiful number of Orc brigades within their ranks. Due to the ruthless nature of the Red Dragon, the Tyrant forces became weakened as they succumbed to their fear. In the first hour of morning, with a frightening and deafening roar, the 1st Red Dragon army group advanced upon the advancing lines of the 1st Tyrant army group under Marshal Wog of the Pits. Across the field, the Tyrant's forces saw the banner of the Red Dragon 1st group, it's pride. The Tyrant fielded its pride: its 1st group. As the attackers flew in with a thunderous sound above the grassy knolls, the first missiles sang out.

                                 - Long Range Missilers -

The erratic whipping winds from a magical storm reduced missile damage on both sides. The long range Red Dragon intense fiery breath and the short bows and mercenary missilers of the Tyrant force initiated their attack. The Red Dragon forces imposed minor damage upon the Tyrant ranks while the Tyrant imposed minor casualties to their enemy.

                                 - Short Range Missilers -

The erratic whipping winds from a magical storm reduced missile damage on both sides. The short range Red Dragon intense fiery breath and the mix of missile troops of the Tyrant force initiated their attack. The Red Dragon ranks imposed light casualties upon the Tyrant ranks in return, the Tyrant dealt out minor damage to their enemy.

                                       - Magic -

Red Dragon mages dismounted just beyond the range of defending bowmen and began an elaborate incantation. Adept Maz the Firecast threw back his hood and gestured in an animated fashion which caused his image to disappear from the battlefield! Tyrant wizards dismounted scarcely beyond the range of defending bowmen and began an animated spell. Incanting forcibly The Firewielder's presence arcane impacted the course of the engagement. Blinding light shot forth from him. Power-4 wizard The Firewielder threw back his hood and gestured in an animated fashion. Looked upon the heavens and gestured violently. Suddenly winds of gale force drove across the battlefield, reducing the accuracy of enemy missiles by about half, but also reducing the accuracy of our own missile troops. Power-2 wizard Kraznik slowly spoke in an arcane language, gestures building to a crescendo. With a dazzling display of images in the air, the leader of the opposing force is mezmorized and cannot move! Power-1 wizard Ugli Borfnox threw back his hood and gestured in an animated fashion. He sought through his magic to stun the enemy commander, but was unable to do so. Mages were not a significant factor in the battle.

                                      - Artifact -

Waving in the wind, the Renowned Standard bolstered the Red Dragon troops with hope during the battle.

                                       - Charge -

The battle seemed to favor the Tyrant kingdom at this early juncture, and their forces pressed forward. The Red Dragon now executed their flanking maneuver and succeeded in flanking the Tyrant group. The effects in the ensuing charge were profound, and retreat for the 1st Tyrant would be perilous. Now Lord Commander Glint of Death beckoned the Red Dragon death-bringing winged attack down upon the mix of cavalry and charging heavy infantry of the Tyrant. The Red Dragon forces imposed appreciable damage upon the Tyrant forces in response, the Tyrant claimed light casualties against the enemy.

                                       - Melee -

The Red Dragon force maintained a distinct advantage and victory now appeared within their grasp. The dragons now landed, shaking the earth, grim determination on the face of each they met in heated, blood-stained battle. The Red Dragon enormous piercing fangs confronted the Tyrant humanoid masses to determine the outcome of the battle. The Red Dragon ranks claimed noticeable damage upon the Tyrant forces while the Tyrant imposed noticeable damage against the enemy.

                                      - Combined -

Hour after hour passed, yet none could tell which side would be the victor since both forces were evenly matched. Despite all that had preceded at this moment, the battle outcome was still in doubt. Now all remaining troops of all types hurled themselves into the thick of battle to settle matters in decisive fashion. The battle continued long past all expectations. By now, the full remaining compliment of each force had been hurled into the fray, feverishly struggling and bleeding these long hours seeking the glory of victory. The Red Dragon razor sharp talons challenged the Tyrant humanoid masses to decide the battle. The Red Dragon forces dealt out significant damage upon the Tyrant lines in return, the Tyrant dealt out noticeable casualties against the enemy.

                                     - Conclusion -

With higher than expected losses, Lord Commander Tyranis had no choice but to order the Red Dragon force to withdraw. The Red Dragon showed good composure in their withdrawal, minimizing losses. Red Dragon casualties were put at 49.69%. All Red Dragon leaders survived the battle. Fighting gloriously was Glint of Death, who again has won further glory. He is now a Warlord. The toll of battle has lowered the group's morale. Tyrant casualties were put at 51.24%. All Tyrant leaders survived the battle. Impressing his peers was Wog of the Pits, who once again has won further glory. He is now a Grand Marshal. Snorg showed great courage and has been recognized as a Captain Major. All the Tyrant wizards survived the fray. An Tyrant brigade of Regular experience fought bravely and have been elevated to Veteran status. Awarded elevation was an Tyrant brigade. They are now a Veteran brigade. An Trolls unit was awarded promotion to Veteran status. Earning promotion was an Trolls brigade. They are now a Veteran unit. An Orcs unit was awarded promotion to Veteran status. An Orcs brigade of Regular experience battled valorously and have been promoted to Veteran experience. Earning elevation was an Orcs brigade. battle so close, red dragon lose half, Gor lose half

so, here orc story.  first Gor say go tell people of untamed land about Gor.  we go out tell people about Gor, they impressed so join up with Gor, so control untamed land.  orc come, troll come, zamoran come (those guys know how to party, orc like) then stabby guy tell Gor "Help, the busty bow babes are attacking me, if you..." but then Gor stop listening, he be like "Busty bow babes?  Gor want!  So, orcs go to Nyvaria to find busty bow babes. Gor overturn every village, every town and city and find no busty bow babes, not one.  Gor sad.  So, Gor say "Go sac that city and find my busty bow babes!  and you nobles, DO something!  Lots of nobles, shuffling around capitol not doin nothin, so they go out to Pellinor and tell funny hat sailors about Gor, they join up, then Gor lead orcs to stormgate.  no busty bow babes, but red dragon, at least if no bow babes, have real good fight.  So Gor and red dragon have real good fight, then Gor sac city... still no busty bow babes... but all land declare Gor ruler of Alamaze, so Gor happy now.

AS TOLD BY THE DRAGONS:

GNOMES DID NOT SHOW RESPECT, SO WE KILLED THEM.
SORCERERS DID NOT SHOW RESPECT, SO WE KILLED THEM.
GOR SHOWED, AND WAS SHOWN, RESPECT. WINNER OF THAT BATTLE WOULD ULTIMATELY BE RULER OF ALAMAZE AS PIRATES HAD NOT FORTIFIED STORMGATE. A WONDERFUL BATTLE, BUT GOR CAME OUT AHEAD.

THE END.

All Hail King Gor. Simple in speech master in conquest. God save the King.

We Sorcerer found ourselves in a terrible position and the greed of the Pirates slowed us down when they failed to notify and tried to keep a town in our sea. Naughty, Naughty.

Underworld thanks Gor for saving us from those nasty bow babes.  They attacked us on turn 2 and we never got control to build secret passages.  At one point we were down to just our hidden capital and a sea town.  We were fortunate to survive this one.  Bow babes should have listened to our early peace offers.

All hail Gor, leader of orcs and trolls.  Well done sir.

Thank you all.  The Tyrant is very fun, and in no small part because orcs hold a special place in my heart as an avid World of Warcraft fan of the horde.  I wonder, Painted, if you had issued a determined attack, instead of flanking, would you have been able to come out on top?  Flanking retreats at TAC 2, I think?  So close its hard to tell.

I had a lot of trouble promoting brigades because PCs just fold like superman on laundry day to the Tyrant.  It seems like Tyrants have a double fear effect, one for being ruthless, one for having siege engineering.  At least, that's the way it seemed in the battle reports and the results.  I couldn't promote even against the city.  The few promotions I had were against a town in Untamed lands where I was trying specifically to train my troops.  I was honestly hoping to fight some Amazons see how the tyrant troops fare against other armies, and get some promotions.

The six groups are amazing, I tried to fill up 5 groups with 3 trolls each just to be crazy, but they ran out of things to do very fast since Drogo dropped, and were just sitting around eating food, I ended up reorganizing some of them.  Then two more free troll brigades on ESO, lol.  I hope all is well with Drogo, by the way, he dropped all his games and I doubt it was because I attacked him.

Yeah, that was the big decision for me... I think attacking at a 3 would have gone poorly. The benefit from flanking is what caused me to do more damage. Take that away and I think you end up with more troops for melee, which is where your strength was.... neither way spelled a win for me. If I would have anticipated the battle, I could have added a couple additional great bats and a p5, and that might have made the difference, but likely not enough of one. You simply brought too many troops. Smile

I would agree flanking plays very well into the strength of the RD brigades. a p5 fear from the RD would have had a huge impact on the results of this battle. wind storm was also a great spell that was used here vs the RD.
