And for the record.... when I started as 1/12 picks as TY/GN combo Confederation game, I didn't get this +25K bonus!!!! Not sure, we should be rewarding the players who get to pick 1st and 2nd anyway but that's for another debate.

we reward picks 1&12/2&11 due to the fact that picking there sucks. You always want to pick in the 5&8/6&7

I disagree. I happily took 1/12 in my Confederation Game (without the bonus cause I wanted the TY which pairs nicely with just about anything left over). Getting the first pick means every kingdom is open to you. Don't think we actually need incentives for people to take 1/12 and 2/11 but that's just my opinion. Guess I'll just start taking 1/12 and 2/11 more often for the first pick AND extra money.

I believe this will be my first time getting a bonus. I actually do not care for pick #1 I find there to be many good kingdom and generally would rather not risk getting a bad one. I took the pick so I got the last pick and purposely did not take one of the big boys with my first pick.
Seeing the last few drafts unfold I believe pick 5 is likely the best if you are just looking for the best team and not who you would like to play.

The problem with picks 1 and 2 is that you are stuck with picks 12 and 11, and in a scenario where you really want your two teams to be somewhat close to one another geographically, you have little to no control with what you're stuck with. That's why I suggested the chivalry bonuses for those slots.

If you want to take TY with pick 1, that's not necessarily bad, but first it isn't so dominant over other Kingdoms that it's necessarily worth pick 1 every time, and second if you're effectively forced into that pick for the sake of geographic flexibility, then you don't really have the benefit of being able to pick freely from all of the variety of Kingdoms (which ostensibly would be the benefit of pick 1, in other cases).

I just don't see the logic why this is introduced in just Confederation games. Shouldn't the last pick in 12 player games and Warlords be getting the last pick bonus as well. And for all the negatives of getting 11 and 12, you also get the positives associated with picking 1 and 2, so it balances out.

And in the first (or perhaps second) 3rd Cycle Confederation game, the TY/GN pick (a 1/12) is currently in 1st and 2nd in status points as of Turn 30. This is where I was "forced" to take the 12th pick (GN) who has been in 1st place every turn since the game started (based on status points).... AND.... without the 25K bonuses. No guarantee they will win but clearly a player can be quite competitive with 1/12 picks and no bonus.

At any rate, if its the will of the people... fine....I'll be taking 1/12 often with that extra $50k. Just don't think its a necessary incentive. Lots of people like to pick first.

We did tweak the Warlords pick order for precisely the reason that 12th pick is no longer a benefit (as it was in Second Cycle, with four Kingdoms on the board for 12th pick).

Most players favored the clustered middle picks on Confederation, with 1/12 and 2/11 clearly perceived as being disadvantaged. If you disagree and enjoy the bonus gold, no worries, then you are in good shape. Smile My only concern would be if you get sick of playing TY (on one hand), or the first time you get stuck with Kingdoms split up across the board (on the other hand). But again, totally your call.

Finally, you're correct that picking last in individual games is a disadvantage, but with most of the Kingdoms being new to any given player this early in Third Cycle, people are still up for playing even the remainder (which on a sheer power level have tended toward R5, R7, D1 as the most common leftovers, from my perception).
