# 502 Choosing Beta 1
May be good to look at which troops are removed if combining to many. In my case I could have avoided the loss because I did not gain or loose any troop types but if someone had combat then combined they would be rather upset to have some of there strongest champion units just lumped off.

I would suggest the loss is based on the weakest combat strength to the combined group. So if you have a single brigade of veteran war machines with 63% attrition you would loose them over 4 regular war machines with zero attrition. But it could even be remove any of the brigade types that has a weaker combined strength to the group. I would go further to say that the removal of the brigades should lower attrition of similar type troops at a ratio based on training level.

We remove the weakest leader and we remove the lowest level Mage but for troops we just lob them off based on an order they have been organized into the group list.

So the Rangers have been fairly well beat down.  No worries about that, but with limited resources and orders, I find myself wondering what sort of useful testing I can do at this point.  (Mostly casting Create Gold isn't particularly useful.)  Happy to try anything - especially if we want to see if it fails properly!

UM looks like SO and EL might have a fairly large battle. Is there any actions you would like to see the EL try.

I don't think we've heard much on the execution of the new tactics - flanking, bombardment, Stand to the Last.  Also the new nature spells in combat like Flash Flood or Wind Storm.

We did see Raise Zombies and Summon Phantoms work successfully.

Flash flood was used against my Sacred Order in the first beta and it did, in fact, devastate my charge phase.

I used flanking successfully vs An inactive RD group to help eliminate him during the retreat phase.(I did note that you made flying immune to flanking in the future)

I used bombardment on a PC went so well I got no promotions with a group that was only like 3:1 vs the PC.

I used the two turn siege of a town as well and captured yet another HA prince. Still trying to track down that slippery Bilbo of his.

I have used all but the Huns special human abilities in combat...huns get flanking which I already get so can not test if it works.

I have a few warlords with 16 wins before I transferred them off to let other leaders have fun.

I used the avenging angle but do not know what it does because I can not find that post with the description.

I have used most the special devout priestess orders. I really like bless with 4 HP at my command I can protect up to 8 emmies. Really nice for combo attacks using 315s. Then when not blessing raising PCs stats by 1k each for 7k gold is very nice and used any time they are not active.

Not much left to test for SA for me. Would have tried the SVC but that pesky HA and his merry team of princes kind of put a hold on that idea.

Thanks to those beta testers who have given feedback, and especially who have tried new things.

I'll post more on the Philosophy page, and I'll talk to Mike about when to cut off the first two betas.
