Test Game (pre-beta)
#71
Keep the observations / potential bugs coming in, while understanding there have been lots of moving parts.  We're hoping we get everything about how we want it before the beta starts.  Hoping the beta is like the real thing, with just an additional chance to catch anything that has gone awry.

While I am a NFL fanatic, I hope to have a 3rd Cycle Rules Supplement posted sometime today.

Since I don't want to lose any of the ideas for improving the user's experience, post your suggestions for an interactive map or other concepts here: http://kingdomsofarcania.net/forum/showt...10#pid8610

That way, we'll have a centralized location for new ideas rather than spread across the forum. I would say that the initial design for the new system may start as early as Feb 2016 so post your ideas before then.

For the review of the new website on this thread, keep in mind that the new site is still fairly "dumb" in the sense that it doesn't have access to all of the game files. So even though the suggestion to automatically advance the turn number sounds simple, that really isn't possible since the website area only has access to the player's account and game/kingdom combo which is registered when they initially sign up for a new game.

So keep the suggestions flowing but post them to the above link rather than here which is only to see if the new site is helpful to new players and would make the Alamaze experience that much better for them (and hopefully bring in more people).

The new website is working great for me. I am currently traveling and the drop down menus are allowing me to submit my turn on my iPhone without the need to pull up a list of the orders or have my turn in front if me. A Huge plus as I travel quite a bit.

My orders are being saved now. Whatever you did, worked. Thanks!

Please do not take any of my comments as a personal insult or as a criticism of the game 'Alamaze', which I very much enjoy. Rather, I hope that my personal insight and unique perspective may, in some way, help make 'Alamaze' more fun, a more successful financial venture, or simply more sustainable as a long-term project. Anyone who reads this post should feel completely free to ignore, disregard, scorn, implement, improve, dispute, or otherwise comment upon its content.

I take it back. I had completely finished my orders and verified and saved after each order. I just logged back in an 10 of my orders vanished. It looks like I'll be submitting using the old form for turn 1. This is driving me nuts.

Send support your list of orders and I'll try to duplicate the problem on my test system.

My orders seem to have saved nicely. I just went back in and changed a couple. Seems all good. Will figure out the 699 and 720 combo next turn.

I like how things are going so far and really see an advantage to newer and experienced players using this order checker. being able to just select an order and see what is available and it helps you actually fill out your orders to make sure you have them correct is huge I think.

I am having trouble with what seems like the order checker is not recognizing my nomads. I am getting note like
-Group Consumption (Food): Unable To Lookup Brigade Nomads (Group 1NO), Will Skip
-when I try to issue a 699 order I do not have the option to select my 5th brigade and when I verify it says I do not have the brigades I am trying to transfer.

from alpha
I noticed in the 3rd cycle notes is still has no 976,977 or 978 I believe these are allowed
also 979 I believe requires a level 7 now.

Been thinking about the Fool and his new order and I don't think anyone will ever use the order (though folks will target the Fool for capture or kidnap).

Based on the wording of new order #482, spend 3,000 for a 0.25 chance to raise influence by 0.3. This means, on average, you will try 4 times to raise it .3, or 13.33 times to raise influence a full point. So, you will spend about 40,000 gold and 13 orders to raise your influence by a point. I don't think folks will spend 13 orders and that much gold for 1 point. The math might need some adjusting if we are to use this one.

Given this, and the fact that I cannot promote him, he is basically a liability. I have to guard him at all times to protect .3 influence and he really does nothing for me.

Fool. Envoy becomes Fool and loss of Fool is – 0.3 Influence. Captured or kidnapped Fools switch to kingdom capturing and provide +0.3 influence. Fools cannot relocate, must always be at capital, and can undertake only one order: for 3000 gold, the Fool (through his acclaim as a performer and lifting the spirits of the Ruler) has a 25% chance of raising Influence by 0.3 with new order #482. They cannot be titled.
