My understanding is that they benefit from Phoenix and will be incredibly hard pressed to feed for the entire game. Other than that, mobility and no water are strengths. Am I missing something. I read the post from uncle mike on it I thought.

Just checking up on things over the weekend and looks ok. About the RD in an Ice Age game, don't forget to develop your wizards to 3rd level. It's more economical to spend gold that way (than recruiting troops during Ice Age) and the RD gains the highest benefit than everyone else with the shield spell which works off the group's total defensive value (no watering down with excessive WY brigades). The RD should do well in Ice Age if you develop wizards to 3rd level for wind storm and shield...

Thank you. I was thinking along those lines it is the start of the game that will be the biggest challenge for the RD but if the RD navigates the early stages well, it should be able to do quite well I am thinking. Time will tell. Your input helps to give a focus for the start of the game.
