Sorry that would be me. I am new and didn't know about having to go to the threads first or the draft.

I am a new player but would love to take the last spot. Spot 11 if available.

Perfect. You got the slot and we are full. Watch this thread for when it is your turn to pick (either a region or a kingdom) and then you will pick again at spot 14 for region or kingdom.

As a fairly new player myself.  Still playing my first game currently in turn 21, I strongly encourage you to look for a mentor.  I have used one and will continue to use them for my first game as I have questions and am not sure how an order works or how to accomplish something.  One of the things I really got help with was understanding the best use of some of the spells.

One of the things I do love about how Alamaze works is that even if your practically wiped out, you can hang around and be a thorn in the side of the person who went after you, and you even have the possibility of rising from the ashes.

I wish you luck and good hunting.

Thanks for the advice Ashgar. I will be doing that once I get my feet wet..lol I did actually play Alamaze a couple of games way back in 1989 when it was truely PBM. My cousin and I a really looking forward to getting back into it. It was a ton of fun back then.

Very good advice on getting a mentor.  It helps tremendously, and their are willing mentors out there.

Things obviously have changed a lot since 1st Cycle in 1989.  Especially if that was with RSI, who I don't think ever adjusted the code after getting a license to run Alamaze as well as Pegasus running it.

Some advice to new players:
  • Be sure to get familiar with the Order Entry site.  Do the free tutorial and perhaps ask for an also free Duel;
  • Pick a balanced kingdom such as the Dwarves, Elves or Rangers;
  • Be sure to never miss a turn: enter at least core orders early and Save (not Ready).  Verify often, save often. When finished with all orders, and having saved the last changes, click the "Ready" button on that screen;
  • Try to use all available orders each turn, but have a multiple turn approach regarding resources;
  • Study your kingdom dossier closely, also called the kingdom setup file, listing your traits, spell lists, brigade costs, magic costs, etc.;
  • Do the kingdom customization on turn 1, and choose your Early Strategic Objective options on turn 3;
  • Its generally not advisable to increase the military much early as your economy cannot support it;
  • Almost always you'll want to Enamor (king order) the region of your capital on Turn 1;
  • Activate your inactive group(s) with a low leader and scout at least furiously.
  • Ask questions on the forum under the Newbie section.  They almost always get answered within a few hours.  Players are happy to help.

I will take Triumvia.

So Strylian is up and can take Zamora, Crown Islands or Zanthia or can pick a kingdom first (any except Cimmerian) and then choose region in a few minutes.
