If I am understanding what you say is the artifacts will not automatically transfer to the assassin?  Do you think the patrol can still move or is it stuck in place?   Or am I understanding this wrong?

I would think of a patrol as a band of people with some minor skills at different things.  The wizard or leader are just named individuals that are recognized.   If you investigated an US with just the p2 wizard in a patrol others are still going to go with him.  And by doing the encounter could be heroic enough to then have a name for themselves and become a centurion.
So if an artifact were in a patrol by itself it would still be a patrol it would just have nobody of name in it.

Game wise if a patrol it could still move around.   If it got changed I would suspect the artifact goes back to the capital similar to if you assassinate an emissary holding an artifact.

I recently transferred the leaders of a patrol into another group, forgetting the patrol had an artifact.  The artifact went to the capital along with the inactive group that was created but the artifact attached to the capital.  It took an agent order to get the artifact in play again (Great Bats) as it has to be used by a group.

You lose moral.  Also if you don't pay them.  You can recover it later by double feeding or paying or both. Cry
