The reason for ice age is that confluence has double the PCs and before battles even start becomes a game of unlimited resources.

So no ice age is fine I will step out and let the original 5 wait for a 6th person

Yes.  The very first confluence we ran hung up during game creation because of not enough PC.   I love the double PC and really like that it is an available option.   Confederations is close enough that I see no reason to change the way confluence sets up.

For the record, it's not really double pc's. The program allocates a minimum number of random towns and villages for turn 0. Then it tries to grant kingdoms their required number of pc's along with some mandatory considerations that I won't go into without Rick's permission. If there's a collision (of a region not having enough of pc's which may occur in special games due to the kingdom selection), the program will dynamically create more towns and villages as needed. So it's an On Demand feature of pc generation. And no, we can't disable that program feature or certain games may not be possible to create (as when not enough pc's exist in the region to fit all kingdoms there).

That is always fine with me.   What is not fine is waiting forever to fill a game.  The Forum Only contest we filled and started very quickly even though there were three other contests waiting to start.

I tried to be as upbeat and positive on this thread as I was on the Forum Only thread, but, instead, had players complaining that there were too many threads starting and didn't like the parameters of this contest.  Then we spent days discussing minutiae instead of playing.  I am not singling anyone out; I am just saying that we got to a place in the Forum where all we had were threads filled with complaints.  I don't usually care where I draft or what kingdom I play.  What I do care about is waiting another few days to start a game.

I can trade draft spots with you, if you prefer.  I can simply draft last every time, if you prefer.  Just tell me what it is going to take to get games started.

If I had a magic wand I would make it where every game was 24 hours turn-around, every game was random draft within the game queue, everyone clicked "ready" as soon as their orders were entered, and everyone had an Imperator subscription so they played four to eight games at a time.  In my opinion, if we aren't doing each of these things we are responsible for slowing down the pace of new games.

Otherwise, I am truly trying to be helpful -- including setting up drafts.  Including trying to get games to start.

If we can't get a sixth player I am happy to drop out and let you four draft a Warlord contest.  Just tell me what it takes.  I will even randomize the draft order for you guys.
