Nope.  Each individual spell (fear, crack the sky) is capped at 25% each, but total fear is not capped.  With the WA (and the WA alone, I think) you can have 90% fear with crack (25), fear (25), mammoths (10), hill giants (10), ghouls (10), specters (10).  Taking a legendary castle with 6 brigades (minimum number to get all the fear) will be a future goal of mine.  I once had a very nice WA 40% fear group (10 brigades) but I was under early attack (thanks Drogo) and the game ended before I could get a power 8 for crack.

It would have to be a small legendary, and you would have to have really big wizards, but I'm thinking if you had 6 elite brigades, cast fear and crack and a power 9 earthquake, you might get one.

Say 160,000 legendary, 90% fear brings it to about 16,000 and defense dividers bring it back up to about 53,000.  Your 6 brigades would have to absorb only the 16,000 damage so with elites and the shield from your presence (maybe 3 warlords as well), you should be ok.  Dealing 53000 damage might be tough.  Power 9 Earthquake would take care of about 20k (with such a small group, I'm only guessing earthquake would be better than valor), the presence of 3x power 9 wizards maybe 8-10k, crack the sky has a tornado effect, say maybe another 15k?  That's pretty close, your group would only have to do about 10-15k.

You could always meteor it, but that's cheating.

If you have time do do forged weapons and armor and take the standard of renown with customization your force would have a 60% bonus.  It sounds like enough.  Maybe then you could even do it with a division but you would lose on of the fears so that's another 16K you have to defeat.

Good point, completely forgot about the standard and forged items.  Thats why you're the alamaze champ!

I've read this thread twice because I have just recently failed at taking a Legendary. (stop laughing, Painted)

One thing I noticed is that you are saying the Legendary loss divider is 3.3. I thought it was 4.8. The way UncleMike's post reads to me is that the base is 1.5 and the Legendary bonus is +3.3 for a 4.8 total.

Popcenter Changes:
a. Base PC loss divider increases from 1.3 to 1.5
b. Fortification loss divider increased from a general +0.4 bonus to:
i. Mott & Bailey bonus +1.8
ii. Castle or Fortress bonus +2.4
iii. Great Castle or Citadel bonus +2.7
iv. Legendary Castle bonus +3.3

Of course I still blew the attack so what do I know? Does anyone have a list of Defensive Values for brigades?

Forged is huge help. I took a big one with RD a few elite (3) and a few vets (4). Forged weapon armor, renowned standard and standard of valors. Three P4’s Took it and was 50,000 less than PC/legendary defense.

I've had A group with + 200 % modifiers but you still need to cut down the defense with fear.

I could totally be misinterpreting the exact loss dividers.  But as I am taking legendary with barely 5% losses, it can't be too far off from my calculations. (Stop crying painted).

I am neither laughing nor crying, as I'm playing whack-a-mole with all of you guys. I think the answer is somewhere in the middle. I would rather have fear than forged weapons, but only because of that nasty multiplier, which I think is closer to what Garth is suggesting. I took two kingdoms without fear in our new confeds game to test this theory, likely to my detriment.

Based purely on the voices in my head, I normally take forged armor first as that is the one I think is more useful if you have to deploy before you can get both... but that's just that I think having troops hang around longer at slightly lower value offensively is a better choice. Again, not based on anything empirical.

I don't predict a whole lot of legendary castles going up in a confed game, I think you'll be fine there.  But I agree about armor first, then weapons later only if you have the time and money.  And I know you're not crying, I don't think we can stop the Halfling victory, I just said crying because he said laughing Wink
