Welcome to Alamaze! If you have any questions, please ask, the group here is generally good at answering.

Looks like I just missed a primeval mentor game. I believe I will be able to pick this up quickly, but ideally I would want my first game to be with a mentor who can give some hands on advice.

Welcome! I'm not playing in the anonymous steel Rex game that's forming, so if you want to join that one, you'll get priority selection of Kingdoms (I can e-mail you some good suggestions if you want), and I can give you plenty of help via e-mail.

How often are new games organized, and how many weeks would you say the average game lasts? Just trying to determine if it would be wiser to wait or to jump right into the Anon Rex being organized currently.

Maybe a week or two between games, this is a good one though because of the "feudal chivalry" option which will benefit you. Yes, a Primeval game with mentor would be better, but not sure how long it would take to fill the next one (might be a month or so).

Game 162 just ended on turn 20, which is the earliest a game can end via Secret Victory now. That represents 13-14 weeks. Figure three turns every two weeks.
My other most recent games lastec 37 turns, 23 turns, and 23 turns. The 37-turn game, like the one you just signed up for, was Rex only. Lord Diamond
Please do not take any of my comments as a personal insult or as a criticism of the game 'Alamaze', which I very much enjoy. Rather, I hope that my personal insight and unique perspective may, in some way, help make 'Alamaze' more fun, a more successful financial venture, or simply more sustainable as a long-term project. Anyone who reads this post should feel completely free to ignore, disregard, scorn, implement, improve, dispute, or otherwise comment upon its content.

I'm having fun so far (turn 1) in game 174, but it just kills me not knowing the plans of my surrounding players. I think for my next game I would prefer a Chivalrous Steel Diplomacy Rex (or SVC). Heck, if one comes up in the next few months while #174 is still ongoing, I may even upgrade my account to Warrior!
