Lycans and acquiring more Lycan recriuts

I was just attacked by a Lycan army group, and I lost the battle. It said that they gained 6 brigades of Lycans through their special ability. I was wondering about their strength. Since they were basically killed, at what strength do they start with. I hope, that in the spirit of good will, that they should be pretty messed up.
