The Hafling Kingdom
#1
HA kingdom with all its cool abilities can't compete against any kingdoms in combat. I'd  like to see it tested in duals against every kingdom. I think it is playable in a team game and in a diplomacy game, but not a dual or silent game. It needs better Spell list to start. The nice wizards it starts with are terrable in battles. Why would there wizards not have instant self Teleport at P4?

The Halflings are not intended to compete with other kingdoms in combat.  Neither are the Underworld, or likely the Pirates.

Players that want a military competition primarily should take a military kingdom.  Players that want awesome magic should take mage kingdoms.  Many players will want a balanced kingdom that is respectable across the board and can choose its focus as the game develops.  Advanced players might want to try unique kingdoms like the Ancient Ones, Demon Princes, Underworld, Halflings, or Pirates.   But don't do a Don Quixote thing and try to prove Halflings aren't as good militarily as kingdom X.

I guess I was too influenced by LOTR.  I didn't imagine the Halflings winning lots of battles on their way to ultimate glory.  The Halflings are not a blunt instrument.  It's going to take skill, and a diplomacy or team game most likely.  And a real read of the lay of the land.

Oh I agree with you. They would not be anywhere near my top choice, but instant Teleport self they should have by P4 for the very reasons you stated above.

BRAVE BRAVE Sir Hobbit, bravely ran away

I think it was Sir Robin.

Players are encouraged to try every kingdom once.  Play the ones you especially liked a second time along the way.

The Halflings: I'm looking for the top Valhalla players to try them.  Then it might be, "That is no ordinary rabbit (hobbit)!"

And then, regarding the threat from said rabbit, "Run away! Run away some more!"

Both HA and BL are on my "To Do" list for future Anonymous/Silent games!
