I am playing the DK in the most recent game. The biggest part of this kingdom is the special that gives a plague like effect. The description of this effect only mentions the reduction of population, it does not indicate that this pop reduction would impact production. After the first turn I have witnessed the population reduction and there is no corresponding reduction in production. This seems strange to me. With this effect each pop center could have its pop reduced as low as 1,000. To think that a village that starts at around 14k pop would produce the same when it only has 1k pop seems strange.
Was this the intention? Will production change with a bigger population reduction?

As the previous Darknights, your production doesn't decrease even though your population does, just like the spell. Otherwise the position couldn't work as they would have no income and thus broke.

Seems kind of silly if all it does is reduce population with no other effect. A City with 1000 population is undamaged by this except you can't recruit from it? Guess I am trying to understand how the infection matters?

Yes seems you are forcing them to fight and move, not build up. If you reduced income you might as well write this kingdom off because people would target you out of the gate.

I thought the point was to move those troops to other regions to hurt population, but that hurting does not actually hurt.

It does stop their recruiting. Imagine your own region after 5 turns at the start of the game with the mechanics of blight applying to resources. And every 5 turn Lon getting troops you suffered a blight, would be crazy rough. Not impossible, but the way it plays now , you move your troops in and they cannot recruit from towns/cities because of lowered population pretty nice advantage.
