When to Fight / When to Parlay
#1
1) I assume that sometimes it makes sense to have your groups attack a PC rather than 170 because you want to 'blood them' and raise your leaders, is this correct? Do people look for fights for this reason? I know you also get the production that turn...

2) I am still trying to figure out Group Strength vs. PC strength. If your group has a value of 10,000 vs a village with a 3,500 defense then I assume you will win but I don't know what kind of casualties to expect. Basically trying to figure out in a general way when I should attack a PC, 170/171, or 180.

Anybody have any insights for a new player?

I also attack pcs because I want to either capture or drive away the enemy characters in the pc. Otherwise, the noble can take the pc back that same turn.

The formula will be different for each kingdom. A 10k Giant army can easily take pcs that a 10k Underworld army will bounce off of every time.

Please do not take any of my comments as a personal insult or as a criticism of the game 'Alamaze', which I very much enjoy. Rather, I hope that my personal insight and unique perspective may, in some way, help make 'Alamaze' more fun, a more successful financial venture, or simply more sustainable as a long-term project. The general rule of thumb is to have at least 200% PC defense. Many factors come into play.

For 170 these are my rule of thumb numbers. for Neutral divide by 2

Friendly, controlled you need ~260% of PC defense

For 171
P2, Friendly, you need 75%
P3 Friendly you need 29%

P4 Tolerant you need ~230%
P5 Tolerant you need ~100%

P6 Suspicious you need ~330%

I attack when I have 300% of the group to PC defense in most cases.

So in your opinion would 170 in a friendly region against a neutral village and with about 220% of PC defense work? Debating between 170,180, attack or to wait and send an emissary.

I would expect that 170 to work.
Things that will hinder 170/171:
-Emissaries using order 310 (Status Quo) in the PC the turn prior.
-Worse regional reactions (largest barrier to overcome as you move away from Friendly)
